<em><strong>Axe History</strong></em>
In the late 1600&#039;s, Trading Posts were set up throughout Canada trading with the natives, trappers and settlers, where furs were traded for axes, muskets and general supplies. Most trading posts had their own blacksmiths. Along with general smithing, they also made axes. Over the years the axe evolved into numerous styles. Today, known as the Hudson Bay Axe.

In 1907 a family of knife makers from Solingen Germany immigrated to El Salvador. This Family continued the tradition of making knives and axes until 1965 at which point they returned back to Germany to purchase state of the art forging equipment and retrain with the finest german craftsmen, to this day they continue manufacture the highest quality of goods in their factories in El Salvador.

<strong>Steel</strong>: Axe heads are forged from 1060 Carbon steel, tempered to 55-57 Rockwell C scale.
<strong>Sheaths</strong>: All axes include a 7 – 8 oz hand sewn and riveted saddle leather sheath with belt carry loop. 20″ and smaller models feature a quick swing Sheath™ that freely pivots the axe on your belt For maximum comfort. All sheaths are stamped with their respective model number on the backside.
<strong>Axe Heads</strong>: All axes come in a ageless hand hammered classic finish.
<strong>Handles</strong>: Handles are selected from USA Tennessee Hickory and selected for proper grain and orientation, specially assembled for the maximum comfort and durability. Hand rubbed with the highest quality oil.

Katz Axes Heads are warranted to be free of defects in materials, manufacture or assembly for the lifetime of the original purchaser with proof of purchase. Wooden Axe Handles &amp; Sheaths are not warrantied due to the nature of the product, but replacement handles and sheaths are available for purchase at your local Katz dealer and on our website. Defective items will be repaired or replaced with the same item or can be substituted for one of equal value.
